Learn Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP — a ten-station path

Ahmed Hassan Algammal10 stations

Before you start

Honest time for the whole path
120 to 180 hours actually spent — and half of them, unusually, with no screen at all
Assumed knowledge
Double-entry accounting at an auditor's level, not a bookkeeper's · Solid reading English — the documentation and the exam are both in it · A working idea of a multi-entity, multi-currency group
The buying question, not the learning one
Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP: the real cost and where it breaks

This is the top tier on this site. The people who finish this path enter a market that pays the most and has the fewest candidates, and the reason for the shortage is not that the material is hard. It is that the door to a practice environment has a price on it.

So start with the price rather than the enthusiasm. Oracle sells the Unlimited Learning Subscription at US$4,995 for one year, hands-on labs and up to three professional certification exam attempts included. Anyone not paying that can buy a single exam attempt for US$245, with no environment attached. Both figures were read off Oracle’s own store on 23 September 2026, not off a partner’s slide.

The first question here is therefore not “where do I start” but “what do I pay, when, and for what exactly” — and station two answers it.

What this product is, and what it is not

Three names get used interchangeably in Gulf job adverts. They are three separate products.

Name What it is Its tier
Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP The subject of this path — built from scratch, generally available since 2011 Large enterprise
Oracle NetSuite A different codebase, a different sales force, different certifications Growing mid-market
Oracle E-Business Suite The previous generation, installed on premise, still running at thousands of sites Legacy to maintain or migrate off

Study for one and interview for another and you find out in the fifth minute. The commercial comparison is set out in full in the Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP guide, published list price and all.

Why anybody buys it — the question that precedes learning

There is one correct reason: a group that closes consolidated accounts across entities, currencies and countries, under an audit that wants segregation of duties proved rather than asserted.

Learn the product without that sentence and you memorise heavy screens for no reason. Understand it and you see why defining a single ledger here takes five decisions where Odoo takes three clicks — because a ledger here is not a company’s books. It is one component in a structure that thirty entities close against on the same night.

The realistic route in

Three ways, ranked honestly rather than optimistically.

  1. Employment at an implementation partner. This is how most people working on the product in the Gulf got there. The partner owns the environment and hands it to you in week one, and pays for the learning subscription because certified consultants count towards its own standing with Oracle.
  2. Buying the subscription yourself. US$4,995 is an investment decision rather than a learning decision, and it comes after you have mastered the document cycles for free — not before.
  3. Building the understanding with no environment, then getting in. This is what most successful people actually do: the accounting and the concepts are built entirely from free sources, the job is applied for, and the environment arrives with the job.

The difference between this path and Odoo or ERPNext is not quality. There you open an environment tonight for nothing; here you pay or you get hired. Say that to yourself on day one rather than in week six.

The ten stations

# Station What you leave with
1 Where to start and why The three products separated, a written week plan, a chosen specialism
2 Access and the environment A written decision — pay, get hired, or work without a screen — with the numbers
3 Enterprise structures and master data Entity, ledger and business unit, and a chart of accounts designed rather than copied
4 Procure to pay Requisition to supplier payment, three-way match, and where invoices really stall
5 Order to cash Order to collection, automatic invoicing, and what it drops in silence
6 Inventory and costing Cost books, receipt accounting, and why the margin moved
7 Subledger accounting and the close The rule that writes the journal — the single most important idea in the product
8 Tax and e-invoicing ZATCA and the UAE, and the separately priced line the demo never mentions
9 Extensibility and quarterly updates A four-rung ladder, and four mandatory updates a year
10 Certification and a first job 1Z0-1054-26 with its time, its pass marks and its price, and the real interview

They are not read out of order. Station seven assumes three and four together, and jumping to it means reading vocabulary with nothing behind it.

The honest time

120 to 180 hours actually spent to reach a hireable standard in finance — six months at an hour a day, or three at two hours.

That is higher than the Odoo figure for two specific reasons: multi-entity accounting is heavier material, and half of the time here is spent with no screen, in directed reading and simulation on a spreadsheet. Reading without writing your own summary is not reading.

Start

Begin at station one: where to start in Oracle Fusion and why.

If your question is instead “should I buy this for my company?”, that is a different question, and the Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP guide answers it: the published list price, the minimum that removes mid-market companies from consideration, and seven places the product stops.

The path, in order

Each station assumes the one before it. Jump to the seventh before the third and you are reading about journal entries posted to accounts you have not created yet.

  1. 1Where to start and whySeparating Fusion from NetSuite from E-Business Suite for good, a written decision on the module you specialise in, and a week plan you can follow daily.
  2. 2Access and the environmentA written decision on the route in and its price, and a plan that produces complete understanding in the early months without spending a dollar.
  3. 3Enterprise structures and master dataA written design for a two-entity, two-currency group, a chart of accounts with every segment justified, and a clear list of what cannot change after the first journal.
  4. 4Procure to payRunning a full purchase cycle or simulating it in writing, reading the journal each document produces, and diagnosing a held invoice from its cause rather than its symptom.
  5. 5Order to cashRunning a full sales cycle or simulating it, reading what delivery does to revenue and cost, and diagnosing a wrong customer balance from its structural cause.
  6. 6Inventory and costingChoosing a cost method by calculation rather than habit, understanding parallel cost books, and explaining a margin difference between two entities for the same item.
  7. 7Subledger accounting and the closeUnderstanding how a journal is built by rule rather than by code, running a correct close order, and separating revaluation from translation from consolidation.
  8. 8Tax and e-invoicingSetting tax by rule rather than per invoice, and knowing the exact line where the product stops and a second invoice starts.
  9. 9Extensibility and quarterly updatesKnowing where configuration stops and code starts, and building the habit of reading the quarterly update document before it lands rather than after.
  10. 10Certification and a first jobAn exam plan with a date and an amount, a portfolio for somebody with no live project, and written answers to the questions interviews repeat.
