Station 10 of 10
Certification, portfolio and first job in Business Central
What you leave this station with
Knowing the exam by name, number, duration and renewal condition, and gathering five sheets from the nine previous stations into a portfolio that can be shown.
At station nine you learned where configuration ends. This station turns nine stations into something you put on a table.
Its position at the end of the path is deliberate. A certificate does not make a skill; it certifies a skill made at the stations before it.
The exam — by name and number
This product has one functional certification and no more, which simplifies the decision.
Read its details from the source: the official certification page (read 6 September 2026).
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| The name | Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant Associate |
| Exam number | MB-800 |
| Level | Intermediate — not beginner |
| Duration | 100 minutes |
| Languages | English, Arabic (Saudi Arabia), and others |
| Price | Varies by country — no single published figure |
| Renewal | Every 12 months, by a free online assessment |
Two rows in that table deserve a pause.
The irony that works in your favour
The product has no Arabic interface — as set out at station eight — and the exam is available in Arabic.
That looks like a contradiction, and it is in fact a clear advantage for an Arabic-speaking candidate: you are tested on your concepts rather than on how fast you read English under time pressure.
But do not read it as permission to drop English. The screen you will work on every day, and the documentation you will search at the first problem, are all in English. So study in English, and sit the exam in whichever is clearer to you.
The row that gets overlooked: renewal
This certification expires after 12 months.
Renewal is free, online, and requires no test centre — meaning the barrier is neither money nor time; the barrier is forgetting.
Anybody who puts it on a CV and does not renew it is writing something expired — which is worse than writing nothing, because it reads as negligence rather than as inexperience.
The remedy is a reminder in your calendar at the tenth month, written today rather than after the exam.
When to sit it
Not after you have read; after you have delivered.
The criterion is practical: when you have run stations three through seven in full on your own environment — a purchase cycle, a sales cycle, a count, a month close and a financial report built with your own hands.
And the published study guide — read at station two rather than here — is reopened now for a different purpose: not to learn what is in it, but to strike off what you have done. What is left unstruck is your final week’s plan, and nothing more.
Anybody starting their study from the guide memorises headings. Anybody finishing with it is reviewing work.
The portfolio — five sheets, all written at their own station
An interview is not won with the sentence “I studied the product”. It is won with a sheet opened on the table.
These five need no new work; every one of them is the output of a station already passed.
| The sheet | From which station | What it proves |
|---|---|---|
| The posting matrix drawn | Three | That you know where the account comes from |
| Two cycles with their entries | Four and five | That you ran them rather than watched them |
| The cost calculated three ways | Six | That you calculate before you choose |
| A financial report with rows and columns | Seven | That you are useful from the first week |
| The three questions before signature | Eight | That you know the limits of what you sell |
The fourth sheet is the one that gets you hired. Building a financial report with account schedules is a standing need on every project on this product, it is entirely functional, and anybody who is good at it fills a real gap in the first week.
The fifth sheet is the one that distinguishes you. Most candidates know what the product does, and few know what it does not do — and anybody who says that calmly and with a source reads as somebody who has worked rather than studied.
Where to look for a first role
The market here is a partner market rather than a company market. The product is sold and implemented through the developer’s partner network, and a first job is usually with one of them.
Three realistic routes in:
One: an implementation partner. The widest door, and the fastest at building experience, because you see many companies in a single year.
Two: a company that bought the product and is building an internal team. Quieter, deeper in one domain, and slower at diversifying experience.
Three: a company living inside the same developer’s office suite that has not moved yet. That door gets overlooked, and there your conversation about integration with the office tools is worth more than your conversation about the product.
And before any of them, redo the exercise from station one: count the adverts in your market yourself, and separate this product’s adverts from those of the other product that resembles it in name. A number you counted is more honest than any advice you read.
What you actually do at this station
- Open the official certification page yourself and verify the duration, the languages and the renewal condition with the date you read it.
- Write the renewal reminder into your calendar today, at the tenth month.
- Open the study guide and strike off what you have done, and write what is left as one list.
- Gather the five sheets into one file, one page each and no more.
- Write a one-page CV, with one line about each sheet — not one line about everything you studied.
- Count the job adverts in your market, separated from the similar enterprise product, and record the figure with its date.
The three commonest errors
One: the exam before the doing. It is sometimes passed, and then the gap opens at the first practical question in the interview.
Two: forgetting the renewal. It looks like an administrative detail, and it is the first thing verified when verification is one click.
Three: a portfolio described rather than shown. Somebody who says “I built reports” is believed at half confidence, and somebody who opens a report built with its own rows and columns is not asked twice.
Where this product sits among its alternatives, and what that does to the decision of whoever hires you, is set out in the Dynamics 365 Business Central guide, and its comparison against the others is in ERP systems.
The acceptance test for this station
- Write the exam’s name, number, level and duration, and its renewal condition.
- Explain why the Arabic exam option does not remove the need to study the English terminology.
- Present the five sheets, naming for each the station that produced it.
- Explain your financial report in two minutes to somebody who has never seen the product.
- Name three limits of the product with their source, and say why knowing them increases rather than reduces the confidence of whoever hires you.
What comes next
The path has ended, and the skill has not.
What was built here — the matrix, the dimensions, the two cycles, cost and its adjustment, the close, and the report built with your own hands — is not knowledge of one product; it is a way of reading any system.
The next product you open, you will ask the same questions, and you will find most of its screens familiar.
That is the difference between somebody who learned a product and somebody who learned the field.
